AI startup Acrab raises $130m in Vertex-backed Series B funding

Acrab, a Singapore-headquartered AI infrastructure startup, has announced raising $130 million in a Series B funding round backed by existing investors Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia & India and Vertex Growth, along with new investors.

The latest round brings Acrab’s cumulative funding to more than $480 million, including capital raised before the company emerged from stealth earlier this year, per the announcement.

DealStreetAsia has reached out to Acrab for the identities of the new investors and the valuation at which the round was completed.

Founded in 2024, Acrab is developing a full-stack AI computing platform that combines custom-designed silicon, edge AI models, and software orchestration to enable AI agents to operate and execute tasks in real time.

The company said it has now entered its next phase of commercialisation after launching its GELIX 1-powered Agent Box platform and expects to begin generating revenue within the year through industrial deployments across multiple sectors.

Acrab said it will use the fresh capital to scale production of its products, expand its technology ecosystem, and accelerate development of its next-generation AI computing platform.

Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia & India, one of Southeast Asia’s most active venture capital firms, has backed several regional technology companies. Vertex Growth, on the other hand, invests in later-stage technology businesses with global expansion ambitions.

Acrab’s funding comes as Asia’s AI funding rush has crossed a new threshold.

Startups across Greater China, India, and Southeast Asia have raised at least $20.3 billion in disclosed capital in the first half of this year, after fresh rounds from India’s Sarvam, Malaysia’s Respond.io, and Singapore-based Pints AI tipped the region past the $20-billion mark.

Greater China accounted for about 90% of the total, reflecting both the size of its funding market and the depth of its AI ecosystem.
