FusionAP Raises US$2 Million Pre-Seed to Advance Malaysia's Push into Advanced Semiconductor Packaging

Round co-led by Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia & India and Southern Capital Group. 

Penang, Malaysia, 13 May 2026: FusionAP Sdn Bhd, a Malaysia-based advanced semiconductor packaging company, has raised US$2 million (RM8 million) in a pre-seed funding round, co-led by Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia & India and Southern Capital Group.

FusionAP is founded by a team of senior Intel and TSMC semiconductor veterans, led by Ooi Teng Chow, Founder and CEO, who was the first employee of Intel's US$7 billion advanced packaging plant in Malaysia and grew the organisation to hundreds of people. He is joined by co-founder Peter Chavart, former General Manager of Intel's Disaggregation Manufacturing Organization.

FusionAP is building a geopolitically neutral outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) platform for advanced 2.5D, 3D and beyond packaging, working with global design houses, foundries and technology partners from prototype to production. The funding will go towards engineering and process integration build-out, R&D and intellectual property development, and pilot capacity. FusionAP has also been offered a matching research grant from the Malaysia Science Endowment under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI).

As AI-driven demand intensifies, advanced packaging has become one of the semiconductor industry's most critical bottlenecks, with capacity concentrated in a few global markets and tight supply expected to persist.
