Ben Mathias is a Managing Partner at Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia & India, based in Bangalore. Since joining Vertex in 2015, he has made several investments in the areas of Consumer Internet, Fintech, Enterprise Technology & Digital Health. Ben has currently or previously sat on the boards of Licious, FirstCry, XPressBees, Kapiva, IVF Access, CloudCherry, Hotelogix, Flutura, Synup, Active AI and GlowRoad. He has overall responsibility for the firm’s investments in India.

Prior to Vertex, Ben was a partner at New Enterprise Associates (NEA) where he launched their India presence and opened their Bangalore office. While at NEA, he led several investments Ben Mathias is a Managing Partner at Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia & India. Since joining Vertex in 2015, he has made several investments in the areas of Consumer Internet, Fintech, Enterprise Technology & Digital Health. Ben has currently or previously sat on the boards of Licious, FirstCry, XPressBees, Ace Turtle, Kapiva, Attentive AI, IVF Access, CloudCherry, Hotelogix, Flutura, Synup, Active AI and GlowRoad. He has overall responsibility for the firm’s investments in India.

Prior to joining NEA, Ben had a successful software career in Silicon Valley where he held senior positions at E2open and i2 Technologies (now part of Blue Yonder). Previously, Ben spent a number of years at PwC Consulting (acquired by IBM) as a member of their retail consulting practice. In his early career, he was at Open Environment Corporation and built application development tools for Distributed Computing.

Ben received his Master of Science in Engineering Sciences from Dartmouth College and his Bachelor of Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.
